Aspen Leaves in October, Poems of Life, Love, and Loss is primarily a book of grief poems written after the sudden death of the author's husband, Dr. Mike Davis, who was president of Pueblo Community College, and who died in a plane crash at the age of 54 in 2006 in the small plane he was flying in the Colorado Rocky Mountains on the way to PCC's branch campus in Durango, Colorado. There are also poems about the author's late, 99 year-old mother, Helen, poems about other late family members and poems about the author's beloved old dog, Nikki. The author writes poetry in an easy-to-read, story-like form. This book will speak to anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one and anyone who appreciates and recognizes the value of loving relationships and a loving family.
